Engine running, engine speed above the TCC stall speed, then the PCM detected a loss of the VSS signal over a period of time The PCM receives a VSS signal from the VSS, TCSS, ABS Module, GEM or CTM (central timer module)

Vehicle Speed Sensor Circuit Performance Conditions

Cause

Engine speed at 1400-4000 rpm, MAP sensor input less than 0.5v (23 kPa or 3 psi) for over 5 seconds, gear selector not in Park or Neutral on A/T models, then the PCM did not receive any VSS signals. The resistance of the VSS is 800-1600 ohms. iVote: The PCM will calculate the vehicle speed using engine speed and MAP sensor signals, but the speedometer will not work.
