Description

Ignition Coil 1 Primary Circuit Conditions

Cause

System voltage over 8v cranking or over 12v with engine running, engine speed under 2016 rpm, Ignition Coil 1 not in dwell period during the test, then test started and PCM detected that the coil peak current was not achieved after 2.5 ms of dwell time (coil primary resistance is < 2 ohms) Inspect for arcing problems at the primary connectors and secondary coil towers, and for loose connections. Refer to the code repair chart to repair this code Note This code takes up to 3 seconds to set during cranking, or up to 6 seconds during engine running.

Engine running, then the PCM did not receive a valid IDM signal from the ignition module The PCM was able to identify that Coil 'A' failed

Ignition Control Circuit (Cylinders 1 & 4) Conditions

Cause

Engine cranking for at least 2 seconds or engine running, then the PCM detected an electrical fault (a short-to-ground, open circuit or short to power) on Circuit 423 (1C 1 & 4)
